I am pleased to be able to offer you four different class options, depending on what you would like to learn!
The first option is FREE. I have already uploaded several videos into my YouTube channel that cover the basics: spinning yarn, washing wool, dyeing wool, corespinning yarn, plying yarn, how wool becomes yarn - as well as a full-length documentary of the 2011 Yarnival in California! So if you are a beginner spinner and wanting to learn more about spinning yarn - check out all the free tutorials I have online.
You can also purchase videos in my shop to learn how to spin different styles of art yarn on a wheel or a drop spindle. If there is a technique you would like to learn that I don't have on my channel or available as a video - you can purchase a private yarn spinning lesson via webcam! We will setup a date/time to either Skype or Google chat with our wheels and our wool and whatever you would like to learn!
If you are local to the New England area, I am offering several classes at Iron Horse in Natik, MA. Please contact them to sign up and for more information on class dates/times/cost. Below are class descriptions of what I currently teach locally. If you like to learn with a group, or want a more hands-on teaching style - then the following classes are perfect for you!
Spinning Art Yarn I: Corespinning & Autowrapping
3 Pond Street, Natick, MA | (508) 647-4722
info@ironhorsefiberart.com | www.ironhorsefiberart.com
Learn how to corespin art yarn! Corespinning is wrapping fibers around a core thread. This core thread gives your handspun yarn more durability and warmth. It also changes the look of the yarn, and how colors appear! Corespinning is a great way to get a bulky single without using a lot of fiber. In this class you will learn how to corespin, and can experiment spinning on different cores to give your yarn different personalities! We will also be learning how to "autowrap" thread around your yarn to create a whispy artsy look! By the end of this class you will be able to transform the ugliest thrift store yarns into corespun works of art!
Students please bring:
A spinning wheel
A niddy noddy
FIBER: 2lbs(ish)
1. Wool (about a pound)
2. About a pound of mixed fibers. Locks, top, roving, batt - whatever you'd like to experiment with!
3. Assortment of thin yarns and threads. Choose some decorative (like novelty, metallics, etc.) Also commercial mohair yarn works great!
4. Ugly yarns in your stash that you're sick of looking at. Especially Red Heart.
5. A spool of Elastic Sewing Thread (about $2 for 30 yards at the craft store)
There will be a pile of fiber and goodies from my stash for you to use as well. If you have any interesting fiber or stuff you don't know what to do with, BRING IT! Throw it on the table and we will use it or you can donate it to the next class. Please bring things you've made or spun to share w/the class and give ideas!

info@ironhorsefiberart.com | www.ironhorsefiberart.com
In this class you will learn 4 different plying techniques to transform your single yarns into beautiful ropes, seashells, beehives, bobbles, and coils! These yarns make beautiful embellishments on hats, and stunning ready-to-wear cowls! By the end of this class you will be plying art yarns like a pro!
Students should bring:
A spinning wheel.
A niddy noddy.
YARN:
1. Bring 2 already spun singles. DO NOT SET THE TWIST! Just leave it on the bobbin so we can ply it first. It doesn't matter if it's thick or thin or both.
2. About a pound of mixed fibers. Locks, top, roving, batt - whatever you'd like to experiment with!
3. Assortment of thin yarns and threads. Choose some decorative (like novelty, metallics, etc.)
