I have been coveting Berroco's Remix Yarn for a while. I think it's perfect for baby items. It's worsted weight (knits up quick - I have commitment issues with needles under a size 5...) made from 100% recycled fibers, and machine washable!!! 30% Nylon + 27% Cotton + 24% Acrylic + 10% Silk + 9% Linen. Perfect for baby leggings! So here's a pattern I made up based on measurements I took from other leggings.
Here's a basic size chart:
Baby:
Ribbing: 5" unstretched, 10" stretched
Length: 6 inches
Pattern: Knit 1 inch of ribbing on the small needles, 4 inches of leg, and 1 inch of ribbing.
Toddler:
Ribbing: 6" unstretched,
12" stretched
Length: 9 inches
Pattern: Knit 1 inch of ribbing, 7 inches of leg, and 1 inches of ribbing
Child: 7" unstretched,
14" stretched
Length: 12 inches
Pattern: Knit 1 inch of ribbing, 9 inches of leg, and 1 inch of ribbing
Adult: 8" unstretched,
16" stretched
Length: 16 inches
Pattern: Knit 2 inches of ribbing, 12 inches of leg, and 12 inches of ribbing
Needles Needed:
Size 5 double pointed needles (for top/bottom ribbing)
Size 8 double pointed needles (for leg)
Yarn Needed:
You can use one ball for a single color set of leggings, or multiple colors for stripes and patterns. In this pattern color (A) is "Juniper" and color (B) is "Old Jeans".
Pattern:
Cast on 36 stitches on your size 5 needles in color (A)
Knit in K2/P2 ribbing for the size you want (see size chart above)
Switch to color (B) (if you want to) and size 8 needles for the leg portion (see size chart above)
Switch to color (A) and size 5 needles and knit in K2/P2 for ribbing (see size chart above)
Bind off.
My baby is due in late April so I will show & tell pictures of him wearing them after he's born. Happy Knitting!!!
